Toyota Fortuner Facelift Gets 5-Star Rating In ASEAN NCAP Crash Test, But There's a Catch!

The upcoming Toyota Fortuner Facelift gets a 5-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash test. It scored an overall of 87.46 points out of 90. But there is a catch, the Toyota Fortuner hasn’t been crash-tested. Confused?

The testing authorities examined the Thailand-spec Toyota Hilux and the results of the Fortuner’s tests were determined by the crash results of the Hilux as it is a pickup truck version of the Fortuner and both these cars share their platforms and mechanicals with each other. 

Toyota Fortuner Facelift – Crash Rest Results

As per the crash test report, the Helix or Fortuner facelift has scored 34.03 out of 36 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 43.38 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). It is important to note that the Thai-spec version of Fortuner also gets active safety features like MG Gloster that mainly includes autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and forward-collision warning system. Therefore, it received 13 points out of 15 in Safety Assist Technologies (SAT). The overall score of Fortuner Facelift settles at 87.46 points out of 90 as per the weightage criteria.
