Tata Tiago CNG launch date

Tata Motors is all set to start its greener innings with CNG iterations of Tiago and Tigor that are likely to be launched on January 19. Unofficial bookings for both models are already underway, and now their variant and color details have been leaked on the web.

As per the leaked document, the factory-fitted CNG kit in Tiago will be offered with three trims: XM, XT, and top-spec XZ+, while Tigor’s XZ and XZ+ variants will get CNG options. Tiago’s top-spec XZ+ trim will also get a new ‘Midnight Plum’ color scheme. The paint scheme for the rest of the variants will remain similar to their corresponding petrol counterparts.

Tata Tiago CNG interior

Since Tata will offer the range-topping XZ+ variants of Tiago and Tigor with CNG kit, they will be loaded with a host of premium features like 15-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button engine start/stop (Tigor only), front fog lamps, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, multifunction steering, dual front airbags, corner stability control, rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, etc.

While the engine specifications are yet to be revealed, both the models will continue with their existing 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline mill, albeit with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Its output will decrease by around 15-20 percent when running on CNG. For transmission, both these Tata cars are likely to get a 5-speed manual as standard.

Expect both models to command a premium of around Rs 65,000 over their corresponding standard variants. Once launched, the Tiago CNG will go up against the Hyundai Santro CNG, Maruti WagonR CNG, and the upcoming Celerio CNG, while the Tigor will fight out with the Hyundai Aura CNG and the upcoming Maruti Dzire CNG.
