Tata Safari Likely To Get Black Edition In Early 2022

Enjoying the success of the Safari three-row SUV, Tata Motors is now planning to introduce its Dark Edition in the Indian market for those who prefer a stealthy look. It is likely to be launched in the first quarter of 2022.

Similar to the Harrier, the Tata Safari Dark Edition is also expected to receive an all-black treatment both inside and outside of the SUV. That said, the SUV could feature a striking black colour paint scheme along with Blackstone alloys and a blacked-out front grille. On the other hand, the interior will also receive an all-new Premium Benecke Kaliko black leather upholstery, a blacked-out dashboard, and a new Gunmetal Grey chrome pack which will further enhance the cabin of the car.

Besides these cosmetic additions, we don't expect any mechanical changes with the SUV. The Safari Dark Edition will continue to be offered with the existing Kryotec 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine (170PS/ 350Nm), paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

In our opinion, the Tata Safari Dark Edition will be based on its mid & top-spec XT and XZ+ variants, which are currently priced between Rs 17.98 lakh to Rs 23.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the Dark trims to command a premium of around Rs 30,000 over their corresponding standard variants.
