Tata Punch CNG Launched, Tiago and Tigor Get Dual-Cylinder Technology

Soon after the launch of the Hyundai Exter, Tata Motors has now introduced the Punch CNG in India with its twin-cylinder technology. CNG variants of Tata Tiago and Tigor have also been updated with the same dual-tank formula.

Tata Punch CNG interior, boot space and features
  • Tata has offered the Punch in five variants of the SUV, making it up to Rs 1.61 lakh more expensive than the non-CNG manual variants.
  • With the CNG version, Tata has also taken the opportunity to introduce several new features, namely a voice-enabled single-pane electric sunroof, individual front armrests, Type-C USB charger, and sharkfin antenna, making it more competitive against the Hyundai Exter.
  • Features like automatic projector headlamps, alloy wheels, LED DRLs, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, steering-mounted controls, auto AC, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, cruise control, dual-front airbags, and reversing camera have been carried forward from the regular variants.
  • Powering the Tata Punch CNG is a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and factory-fitted CNG kit that makes 73.5PS/103Nm when fed with natural gas. For reference, it makes 86PS and 115Nm in petrol mode.
  • When it comes to fuel efficiency, the Tata Punch CNG claims to return a mileage of 26.99 km/kg.
  • As mentioned above, the Punch also benefits from the carmaker’s twin-cylinder technology that ensures useable boot space.

Tata Tiago CNG review

Both the Tata Tiago (including Tiago NRG) and Tigor CNG now get the carmaker’s ingenious twin-cylinder technology, which preserves practical luggage space.
