Tata Harrier Gets A New XZS Variant At Rs 20 Lakh

Tata Motors has silently revised the variant lineup of the Harrier 5-seater SUV and introduced a new XZS trim, placing it between the XZ and XZ+ variants. Priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant is available with both manual and automatic transmission as well as in the dual-tone and stealthier Dark edition options. Here’s a look at its price list: –

As the above table indicates, the new XZS trim is up to Rs 1.30 lakh more expensive than the XZ variant of the Harrier. For this added sum, it gets 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, and electrochromic IRVM over the XZ trim.

The other features of the SUV are the same as the XZ variant which mainly includes Xenon HID projector headlamps, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, automatic climate control, auto headlamps, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, a semi-digital driver’s display, multiple drive modes, six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold assist, a rear parking camera, and much more.  

In comparison with the range-topping XZ+ trim, the new XZS variant misses out on ventilated front seats and iRA-connected car technology.

Mechanically, the SUV remains unchanged. It will continue to be powered by the same FCA-borrowed 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine (170PS/350Nm), paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

In the Indian market, the Tata Harrier goes up against the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700, Jeep Compass, and select variants of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
