Tata Altroz Drops Physical Media Button For The Infotainment System

After Nexon SUV, Tata Motors has now removed the physical media buttons and rotary knobs for the Altroz's Harman touchscreen infotainment system, which were placed just below the central AC vents. Now, this place will feature 'Altroz' lettering in chrome finishing. These functions have now been integrated into the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

While it is unquestionably the latest trend and gives the dashboard a neat appearance, it really hinders usability as physical buttons are easier to operate without taking the eyes off the road.

Besides this, no other changes have been made to the premium hatchback. It will continue to be available in seven variants: XE, XM, XM+, XT, XZ, XZ (O), and XZ+, with top-spec variant getting notable features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, iRA connected car technology with 27 features, 70+ Hinglish voice commands, semi-digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, rear AC vent, cooled glovebox, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors with camera and many more. The Altroz also offers various factory-fitted customization options.

Powering the Tata Altroz are three engine options: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol (86PS/113Nm), a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol (110PS/140Nm), and a 1.5-liter diesel (90PS/200Nm). All three engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is expected to be introduced later.

Priced between Rs 5.69 lakh and Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata Altroz rivals the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, and Toyota Glanza
