Renault Kiger Vs Nissan Magnite: Specification, Price & Features Comparison

Latest Update: Nissan has increased the prices of Magnite SUV by up to Rs 30,000. Click here to see its variant-wise latest price list.

Renault India has recently launched its first-ever subcompact SUV, the Kiger, at a starting price of Rs 4.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It shares its engine options and platform with the Nissan Magnite. In fact, it is Renault's version of the Magnite SUV. However, to distinguish it from its Japanese counterpart, Renault has done a pretty decent job. In this story, we’ll be concentrating on the major specifications & features differences between both the offerings:

  • Though both SUVs use the same CMF-A+ platform, there are minor differences between the length and width of both cars due to their different stylings. However, the wheelbase of both offerings is identical.
  • The Kiger holds the edge over the Nissan Magnite in terms of boot space. The Kiger claims a boot capacity of 405 liters, which is 69 liters more than the Magnite’s. In fact, Kiger offers the best-in-segment cargo space, which can be further increased to 879 liters with the second row folded.

  • Both Magnite & Kiger come with the same 1.0-liter petrol engine options with identical power output. However, Kiger's NA variants also get the option of an AMT (automated manual transmission), which can be a good option for those who want the convenience of two pedals in less pricing.
  • The Kiger also features a rotary knob to shift between three drive modes – Normal (City), Eco, and Sport. These modes alter the engine and gearbox response accordingly. The Magnite, on the other hand, only gets Sports mode along with the Normal/standard mode.

Renault Kiger Vs Nissan Magnite – Features Comparison

Both these cars look generous and pack features that are good enough as per their price quotient. Both of the subcompact SUVs get comfort & safety features like LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless apple carplay & android auto, 8-speaker, auto climate control, rear AC vents, 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, keyless entry with engine start/stop button, front & rear armrest, multi-function steering wheel, 60:40 rear split seat, ISOFIX child seat mounts, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with a camera, etc. These siblings also get a wireless mobile charger and air purifier as an accessory.

However, the inclusion of cruise control, connected car technology, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera (segment's first) over Kiger, helps Nissan Magnite strike the claim of being better equipped among the two.

The Renault SUV, on the other hand, gets features like front side airbags, multiple driving modes, a cooled glovebox, a slider-type center storage console, and interior ambient illumination with a control switch, which the Magnite misses out on. The Renault Kiger also gets an 8-speaker ARKAMYS sound system, whereas the Magnite gets a more premium 6-speaker JBL audio system but as an optional unit.

Price Range

Renault Kiger

Nissan Magnite

Prices (ex-showroom)

Rs 5.45 lakh to Rs 9.55 lakh

Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 9.89 lakh

Verdict

The introductory price range of the Renault Kiger makes it more affordable than the Nissan Magnite. Both SUVs get the same set of engine options. However, the Kiger has an upper hand in terms of boot space and automatic gearbox availability with the NA engine, which makes it a more practical offering over the Magnite. Though it misses out on various comfort & convenience features, its additional safety features add more significance. Also, Renault has a wide service network than the Nissan in our country. We only wish Renault had also offered cruise control and connected car technology.
