Renault has recently entered into the hotly contested sub-4-meter SUV segment with the Kiger. While the test drives & bookings of the SUV are already underway, Renault has stated that the deliveries will begin from 3rd March 2021.
For the people not in know, the Renault Kiger is being offered in four variants, namely: RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ. All the variants are available with dual-tone color options, and as per the reports, these are in the most demand. As a result, the Renault SUV is commanding a waiting period of up to 2 months.
Renault Kiger is a petrol-only model, available with two 1.0-liter engine options, which comprises a naturally aspirated (NA) and a turbocharged unit. While both the engines get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, the automatic transmission options are different for both motors. The NA mill gets an affordable AMT unit, whereas the more powerful version comes with a CVT transmission option. The top-spec turbo-petrol variant also gets three driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sports.

In terms of features, the top-end RXZ trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay smartphone connectivity support, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, height-adjustable driver's seat, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, etc. Safety is taken care of by up to four airbags, ABS with EBD, speed-sensing auto door lock, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors with a camera. Further, you can also personalise the SUV as per your convenience and taste by opting for a wide range of official accessories.
Currently, the Renault Kiger is the most affordable subcompact SUV in the Indian market, priced between Rs 5.45 lakh and Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It goes up against the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
