For those unaware, the recently launched Ola S1 Gen 3 range receives a host of updates over the Gen 2 lineup. To start with, the Gen 3 platform comprises the battery, motor and BMS unit in a single cohesive system, which not only enhances efficiency but also enhances performance and reduces the overall weight and size of the powertrain for better space utilisation. In fact, the brand has also used a new mid-mounted motor which features a magnetised electrical coil instead of permanent magnets. This offers better overall performance and improved thermal efficiency. It utilises a chain drive system for propulsion, with pre-lubricated O-rings for better reliability and noise reduction.
The number of ECUs has also been reduced from ten in Gen 1 to just one in Gen 3 platform. It also receives new features like brake-by-wire tech, disk brakes, Antilock Braking System (ABS) and more.
Speaking of the S1 X+, its 4kWh battery claims an enhanced IDC range of 252 km and has a top speed of 125 kmph. On the other hand, the S1 Pro 3kWh trim claims 176 km of IDC range and has a top speed of 117 kmph. Both scooters come with a standard warranty of 3 years/40,000 km, with an option to extend the warranty to 1.25 lakh km or 8 years.
In the EV scooter segment, the Ola S1 range takes on the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X and Simple One.
