OLA S1 Series Gen 3 – What’s New?

For those unaware, the recently launched Ola S1 Gen 3 range receives a host of updates over the Gen 2 lineup. To start with, the Gen 3 platform comprises the battery, motor and BMS unit in a single cohesive system, which not only enhances efficiency but also enhances performance and reduces the overall weight and size of the powertrain for better space utilisation. In fact, the brand has also used a new mid-mounted motor which features a magnetised electrical coil instead of permanent magnets. This offers better overall performance and improved thermal efficiency. It utilises a chain drive system for propulsion, with pre-lubricated O-rings for better reliability and noise reduction.

The number of ECUs has also been reduced from ten in Gen 1 to just one in Gen 3 platform. It also receives new features like brake-by-wire tech, disk brakes, Antilock Braking System (ABS) and more.

In the EV scooter segment, the Ola S1 range takes on the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X and Simple One.
