No Entry For Petrol And Diesel Cars In Delhi Till December 3

In order to curb air pollution, Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi government has banned the entry of all petrol and diesel vehicles (except those carrying essential commodities) in the national capital from November 27 to December 3, 2021. The govt is yet to clarify whether private vehicles are also included under its limit. However, CNG and Electric Vehicles (EVs) are exempted from this rule. At the time of writing this story, the air quality in Delhi ranges from 313 (Very Poor) to 449 (Severe) AQI, depending on the region.

This move is going to be more troublesome for working professionals who have to travel from Delhi to Gurgaon, Noida, or Ghaziabad in private vehicles.

Earlier, the Delhi government had banned the entry of trucks and halted construction and demolition activities in Delhi till November 21. The government had also directed all educational institutions to remain closed till further notice. However, the authority has now allowed educational institutions to reopen from 29 November '21.

We all know that pollution disasters are affecting the National Capital Region for many years. And apart from banning petrol vehicles older than 15 years & diesel vehicles older than 10 years, and promoting electric vehicles, no concrete step has been taken by any government so far. However, every year the NCT government brings in certain rules and regulations, such as the odd-even rule, carpooling, etc., largely for temporary relief.
