MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV EXCLUSIVE Variant Explained

JSW MG Motors India has today launched the all-new Hector Tomahawk PHEV in India, making it the country’s first mass-market plug-in hybrid vehicle. Priced from Rs 25.79 lakh (ex-showroom), this Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari-rivalling SUV is available in two variants: Exclusive and Essence. In this thread, we have detailed out what its entry-level Exclusive variant brings to the table.

But first, have a look at its technical specifications: –

This gasoline mill is paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack and a 201PS single electric motor. It is claimed to run nearly 115 km in pure electric mode, whereas its combined fuel efficiency is stated at over 1100 km, allowing it to cover longer distances with fewer fuel stops.

It also gets six automatic powertrain modes, which tailor the SUV’s power delivery according to different driving scenarios. These include: –

  • Pure EV Mode: The vehicle runs on electric power using the battery, mainly in low-speed, city traffic conditions.
  • Series Hybrid Mode: Ideal for stop-&-go traffic, with the motor driving the vehicle and the engine generating electricity.
  • Parallel Hybrid Mode (Boost): The engine and motors work together to deliver stronger performance.
  • Regeneration Mode: Recovers energy while slowing down or driving downhill and sends it back to the battery.
  • Pure Engine Mode: The petrol engine alone powers the wheels for efficient highway cruising.
  • Engine Drive + Charge Mode: The engine powers the wheels, while also charging the battery.
