Nissan has geared itself to launch its first sub-4m SUV in the Indian market, the Magnite. It will officially go on sale on 2nd December 2020. Magnite's bookings will commence pretty soon ahead of its launch. However, some of the dealerships have already started taking bookings for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Nissan Magnite will be available in four variants XE, XL, XV, and XV Premium. Their variant-wise pricing and features details have already been leaked.

Nissan will offer the sub-compact SUV only with petrol engine options. It won't get the choice of a diesel motor. The Magnite will come with two petrol engines to choose from. In which, the first will be a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit that also powers the Renault Triber, producing 72PS/96 Nm of maximum output. This engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only. The second engine will be a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit that produces 100PS of maximum power and 160Nm of peak torque with a manual gearbox. Nissan will also offer this engine with the CVT automatic gearbox option but in detuned torque state (152Nm).

Let’s take a look at the variant-wise powertrain options and their mileage figures:

Apart from these, it also features LED projector headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front and rear armrest, steering mounted controls, day/night IRVM, electrically adjustable ORVM, ambient lighting, puddle lamp, LED scuff plate, push engine start/stop button with keyless entry, height-adjustable driver's seat, wireless mobile charging pad, air purifier, rear spoiler, roof rail (can carry load up to 50kg), dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear defogger, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, vehicle dynamics control, hill start assist and electronic stability control, etc.

It is important to note that some of the above-mentioned features such as wireless charging, illuminated scuff plate, puddle lamp, air purifier, ambient lighting and JBL speakers will only be offered with optional Tech package, which is limited to the XV and XV Premium trims.

According to the leaked prices, the Nissan Magnite will range between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom). If the brand will keep the same prices what we know so far, then it will be the most affordable offering in the sub-4m space, which is a highly competitive segment that incorporates models likes the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Mahindra XUV300, and Toyota Urban Cruiser. Soon Renault's Kiger will also join the tribe.
