New Hyundai i20 Received Over 20,000 Bookings In Just 20 Days

Hyundai had launched the third-gen i20 on 6th November, while the pre-launch bookings were commenced from 28th October, and in this very short span, it has received over 20,000 bookings.

The Korean maker has stated that these bookings numbers are of just 20 days and so far, the Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O) variants accounted for over 85% of the total bookings, indicating a massive demand for new features. The brand has also reported that 45% of the buyers have chosen BlueLink equipped variants, i.e., Asta and Asta (O), and approximately 30% of the bookings have been received only for Asta (O) trim. Over 35% of customers have preferred variants enabled with an air purifier, viz Asta automatic onwards. On the other hand, the trims that offer two-pedal convenience (iMT, CVT & DCT) account for 25% of the bookings. The Korean car manufacturer further stated that they have delivered over 4,000 units till now. 

About All-New Hyundai i20

The third-generation Hyundai i20 is available in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O). The company is offering three engine options with this updated hatch same as the Venue, which includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine, and a 1.0-litre petrol turbo engine. In terms of transmission options, the 1.2-liter unit is available with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission, the turbocharged engine comes mated to either a 6-speed iMT or DCT. On the other hand, the diesel engine comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox only.

The key features of the new i20 include an all-LED lighting system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BlueLink connected car tech, electric sunroof, an air purifier, six airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking camera & sensors, etc.

Hyundai markets the 2020 i20 from Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 11.32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). If reports are to be believed, the brand could also introduce a new base model (Era) to make the car more affordable. To know about this in detail, click here.
