Nissan Magnite Commands Highest Waiting Periods Among Rivals

Nissan Magnite, the latest entrant in the sub-4m SUV segment is drawing massive responses from buyers. It has crossed over the 32,800 booking mark since its launch on 2nd December 2020. This tremendous demand has simply led to long waiting periods of up to eight months in metropolitan cities, depending on the variant, engine, and color selection. In fact, it is leading the longest waiting period among its rivals.

As per the reports, the Nissan Magnite is commanding the highest waiting period of up to 35 months in the national capital region, whereas the buyers of IT capital (Bengaluru) will have to wait for up to 4 months to get delivery of their preferred trim of Magnite SUV. The city of Nizams, i.e., Hyderabad is also holding a similar waiting time.

While Chennai and Mumbai have waiting periods of around 26 months, customers of Kolkata could have to wait for up to 90 days. On average, the Magnite has a waiting period of 2-3 months in most cities across India.

The credit of this huge waiting period on Magnite SUV can be given to its striking look, comprehensive feature list, and most importantly to its aggressive pricing. For the people not in know, the Nissan Magnite is available in five trims: XE, XL, XV, XV Premium, and XV Premium (O). It's base trim XE has recently received a price hike of Rs 50,000. But still, it's the most affordable subcompact SUV available in the Indian market. Currently, it retails between Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Nissan Magnite can be had with either a 1.0-liter naturally-aspirated petro (72PS/96Nm) or a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol unit (100PS/up to 160Nm). Both engines come with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the turbo engine also gets an option of a CVT automatic transmission.

To cut down the waiting period, Nissan has also started a third shift at its Oragadam (near Chennai) plant. For this, Nissan has hired over 1000 workers at its manufacturing facility along with 500 new executives to strengthen its existing customer touchpoints and dealerships.
