New TVS 125cc Scooter Teased; Launch On October 7

TVS Motor Company has once again teased its forthcoming 125cc offering that is set to arrive on October 7. While the brand is tight-lipped on what the upcoming product would be, the recently teased image suggests that it could be a more powerful version of TVS's highly popular Jupiter scooter. Unlike the TVS NTorq, the upcoming Jupiter 125 could be a more family-oriented scooter. However, considering the brand's recent trademark filing, it is likely to be named 'Retron'.

The upcoming 125cc offering from TVS might use the 124.8cc 3-valve single-cylinder engine from the NTorq 125, albeit in a different state of tune to cater to a varied customer base. As of now, this motor comes in two states of tune – – 9.4PS and 10.5Nm (with NTorq's Standard model) and 10.2PS and 10.8Nm (with NTorq Race XP Edition). On the other hand, the recently launched Raider 125's engine offers 11.2PS of maximum power and 11.2Nm of peak torque.

Compared to the ongoing TVS Jupiter, the new 125cc scooter is likely to get a more mature design with features like an LED headlamp & tail lamp, LED daytime running lamps, Bluetooth-enabled digital instrument console, USB charging port, external full-fill cap, and alloy wheels. While its specifications will be revealed at the time of launch, reports are intimating that it could offer the segment's largest underseat storage space, which could accommodate two half helmets easily.

We reckon the new TVS scooter to bear a price tag of around Rs 75,000 (ex-showroom), placing it against the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125, and the Yamaha Fascino Hybrid.
