New Tata Harrier, Safari Revealed; Bookings Open Officially

After tons of spy shots and teasers, Tata Motors has finally revealed the facelifted Harrier and Safari SUVs, with more distinctive front and rear profiles, new features and more technological enhancements. Their bookings have also been started for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

New Exterior Design

Both Tata Harrier and Safari have been modernised with the same design language, with significant modifications to their front and rear profiles.

  • Starting with the front, both SUVs now feature an enlarged grille, with sleek LED DRLs covering the width of the bonnet. They also receive Nexon.ev-like vertically stacked split LED headlights with new surrounds and tweaked bumpers at both ends.

  • At the rear, both SUVs get new LED-connected tail lamps and new font designs for their model badging.
  • Changes on the sides can be seen in the form of new 19-inch alloy wheels for the Safari and new 18-inch black alloy wheels with aerodynamic inserts for the Harrier.

Updated Cabin and New Features

  • Inside, the 2023 facelifted Tata Harrier and Safari get a redesigned dashboard layout with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a new 4-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, and an ambient lighting strip covering the lowered curved profile of the dash.
  • They also get a touch-based climate control panel with simply two toggles and a new dial for drive modes with a display, counting to the sweetened premium feel.
  • Based on the exterior shade, the Tata Harrier gets different interior colour schemes.

  • Besides a larger touchscreen infotainment and customizable digital cluster with navigation display, these upgraded Tata SUVs now also come with dual-zone climate control and gesture-controlled tailgate.
  • Regarding safety, they are now available with up to seven airbags.
  • Tata also has added adaptive cruise control to their ADAS suite.
  • Features like wireless smartphone charger, connected car tech with remote control functions, ventilated front seats, powered front seats, JBL sound system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated rear seats (limited to Safari 6-seater), paddle shifters, auto headlamps & wipers, 360-degree camera, TPMS, ESC, electric parking brakes, and ADAS suite have been retained from the outgoing models.

New Variant Lineup

With the facelift update, Tata Motors has also updated the nomenclature for their variant lineup.

Having said that, the Tata Harrier Facelift will be offered in four broad trim levels: SMART, PURE, ADVENTURE and FEARLESS, whereas the Safari will be available in SMART, PURE, ADVENTURE and ACCOMPLISHED.

In addition to these variants, both the new Harrier and Safari will continue to come in #DARK Edition.

Powertrain

Things remain unchanged underneath the hood. Both SUVs continue to get the 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine (170PS/350Nm) that can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Expect Tata to introduce a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with both these SUVs in the near future.
