New Mahindra Scorpio Is Likely To Known As Scorpio Sting

Mahindra, the SUV maker, is gearing up to launch the successor versions of XUV500 and Scorpio. Currently, they are in the testing phase and have been spied numerous times. The new Scorpio is likely to launch after the next-gen XUV500. But ahead of its debut, news is coming out that Mahindra can add a "Sting" suffix in its name.

As per the reports, Mahindra has recently trademarked four different nomenclature in India – 'Sting', 'The Sting', 'The Scorpio Sting' & 'Scorpio Sting'. This move clearly suggests that the homegrown maker is looking for a new title for the upcoming SUV. There are also anticipations that the brand will continue to sell the current Scorpio alongside the new-gen model. Hence, the new name will help distinguish both the models.

About Next-Gen Mahindra Scorpio

The third generation Mahindra Scorpio is likely to be based on a new ladder-frame chassis (ZEN3 platform), which also underpins the new Thar. It will be bigger than the current model and will feature a completely new design both inside and outside. Also, it will be better equipped when compared to the ongoing version. It is likely to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity, connected car tech, electrically adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control with newly designed console and air-cons vents, new three-spoke steering wheel, electric sunroof, leather seats, etc.

2021 Mahindra Scorpio is likely to get two engine options – 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol and 2.2-liter mHawk all-aluminum diesel. The brand hasn't shared its technical specifications yet, but both engines are expected to get 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions choices.

With the introduction of the new model, the Scorpio will get back the rear-wheel biased 4×4 drivetrain option, which was discontinued during the BS6 transition phase.

The new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be launched by mid-2021. Currently, It is priced between Rs 12.42 lakh and Rs 16.27 lakh. The new model will surely command a premium over the current model.
