After teasing the bigger infotainment unit of the new Hector, MG Motor has now released another teaser video of the upgraded SUV, revealing its revised front facia.
The next-gen MG Hector will get a heavily chrome-loaded grille with sleeker LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) on either side. The grille looks bigger and gives the SUV a more assertive look. The Chinese carmaker has also tweaked the front bumper of the car that accommodates a new LED headlamp setup. Keen eyes could also notice a camera below the MG logo and a radar sensor at the center of the air dam, suggesting the inclusion of the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
We expect the new-gen Hector to get Level-2 ADAS from the MG Astor which comprises lots of active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, auto emergency braking, and much more. Besides, features like a 360-degree camera, traction control, electronic stability control, parking sensors, hill hold assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and 6 airbags will also be part of the safety kit.

Inside the cabin, MG is expected to revise the dashboard layout. It will also get a new Android-based 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system instead of the current 10.4-inch unit. It could also receive a new color scheme for the cabin, revised upholstery, and memory function for the driver’s seat.
Mechanically, it will continue to use the same 143PS 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol (with an optional 48V mild-hybrid system) and 170PS 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines as the existing model. However, the carmaker could take this opportunity to introduce a new automatic transmission for the oil burner. Currently, the Hector diesel only comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the gasoline mill gets both manual and CVT automatic options.
Expect MG to launch the new Hector SUV around the festive season. The brand is likely to sold it alongside its existing model.
