JSW MG Motor India yesterday unveiled its new ADAPT platform for hybrid and electric vehicles, and now reports are indicating that the first model based on it will arrive in August 2026. It is expected to be a 7-seater SUV based on the global-spec Wuling Starlight 560/Eksion, and will be offered in both electric and plug-in-hybrid guises. While it is not official, it is expected to be called Hector Hawk.

  • According to reports, the upcoming ADAPT EV from MG will be priced very competitively. In fact, it is likely to undercut the Mahindra XUV 9S 70kWh trim.
  • It is expected to be equipped with a 69kWh battery pack and front-wheel-drive motor, with an estimated range of around 600km on a single charge.

  • Alongside the EV, a plug-in-hybrid version of the SUV will also be launched with slight design changes. It is likely to feature a 105PS/130Nm 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine running on Atkinson-cycle as its global-spec trim, paired with a front electric motor and a 20.5kWh LFP battery pack, producing a combined output of 197PS and 230Nm. Wuling claims a 125km all-electric range and a combined range of over 1100km for this PHEV.
  • Expect the MG PHEV to be priced on par with XUV 7XO diesel variants.
  • Speaking of the dimensions, the upcoming MG Hector Hawk will be 4.7 meters long and approximately 1.85 meters wide.
