MG Hector Plus 6 seater Launch date revealed | Check features

Engine options

Mechanically, the Hector plus in all probability is most like to get the same engine-gearbox options. Diesel Engine that currently powers the Hector, a 170hp/350Nm, 2.0-litre unit, which comes mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox, will in all likeliness power the Hector plus as well. However, Hector Plus can also be offered in the Diesel-Auto combination option. MG hinted development of a Diesel DCT Automatic on twitter a few days back.

Like the 5 seater version, the 1.5-litre Turbo Petrol engine (143hp/250Nm) with 48V mild-hybrid system can also be offered. If the company does so, it is highly expected that this will be offered in two gearbox options i.e. 6-speed manual and a 6-speed auto.

MG Hector is the first product of the British brand in the country. With a good reception in the Indian market, the company has been quick in assessing that a third-row version of the Hector could take on the popular players like the Mahindra XUV 500 and the Toyota Innova Crysta. Thus, It is expected that Hector Plus will spice up the competition.

Amidst COVID blues, MG has given the automobile enthusiasts and potential near-future SUV buyers a reason to wait, MG Motors have confirmed that they will be launching the 3-row seater version of the popular feature-loaded SUV Hector very soon. It will be called ''Hector Plus''.

First unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020, Hector plus as the name suggests will come equipped with 5+ Seats (6/7 seats), giving all the potential Hector buyers something to look forward to.

Rajeev Chaba, President & MD, MG Motors India was in conversation with Indian car magazine Autocar on Instagram live session, when he informed about the launch of the 3rd-row version of the Hector.

'We could have surprised everyone by launching it in April, but now April is ruled out. So we are on track to launch it in June. It has been delayed, but we said June earlier, so we are keeping some margin with us, so in June we should be launching it.- Rajeev said

Hector Vs Hector plus – What is the difference?

Design

While the Hector plus retains a large part of the design profile of the Hector, Few design tweaks on the outside do gives the Hector plus identity of its own. The minor design changes include a new grille, slightly tweaked headlamp, and thicker LED DRLs.

It is also important to note that subtle design changes on both the front and rear bumper definitely adds to the overall appeal of the car.

Both of these offerings from the MG are literally very bag and are expected to be near identical in size.

Though there has been no official word regarding upgradations in the cabin, chances of the company offering slightly-premium upholstery cannot be ruled out, with the cabin remaining the same largely.
