MG Motor India has teased its upcoming CUV, which appears to be based on the Wuling Cloud EV. This new crossover utility vehicle is claimed to blend the comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV.
In the official teaser video, the upcoming MG CUV unmistakably resembles the Cloud EV, which has already been spotted testing a couple of times on our roads. The teaser reveals the full-width LED light bars at the front end, giving it a distinctive and striking appearance. It also confirms the presence of fully reclinable front seats, known as the “SOFA MODE,” with a 135-degree backseat recline for enhanced comfort.

Already on sale in the global market, the Cloud EV measures 4.3 meters in length, with a wheelbase of 2,700mm. It is actually a 5-seater offering, with the second row also featuring reclinable seats.
Wuling offered the Cloud EV with two battery packs overseas: a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh, with a claimed range of 360km and 460km range, respectively. It gets a front-axle mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134PS of max power. However, it is yet to be seen which of these battery packs will be brought here.
We expect MG could price the Cloud EV under Rs 20 lakh in India, placing it between the Air EV and ZS EV in their portfolio. If so, it will be positioned head-to-head with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
