Mercedes AMG S 63 E Performance Launched In India

Mercedes-Benz has launched the new AMG S 63 E Performance in India at Rs 3.30 crore (ex-showroom). Powered by a plug-in hybrid 4-litre V8 engine, it’s the Mercedes’s second plug-in hybrid vehicle in India. It is also the most powerful iteration of the S-Class yet. Mercedes has also introduced the AMG S 63 E-performance Edition 1 in limited quantities.

Here’s everything that you need to know about this powerhouse: –

  • The AMG S 63 E Performance is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine at the front, paired with a 13.1kWh battery and a rear-axle-mounted motor.
  • The e-motor generates 190hp and 320Nm of torque, bringing the combined power output to a staggering 843HP and 1470Nm, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in merely 3.3 seconds before attaining a top speed of 290 kmph.
  • The drive battery, compatible with a 3.7 kW Type 2 connection, delivers up to 33 km of electric range and a top speed of 125 kmph, seamlessly combining performance and efficiency in one impressive package.
  • The AMG S 63 E Performance is packed with features aimed at delivering dynamic handling and supreme comfort. These include AMG RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension with adaptive damping, roll stabilization, and active rear-axle steering with up to 3 degrees of steering angle, all of which enhance its confident and agile driving experience. Additionally, it offers carbon ceramic brakes as an optional feature.

  • The AMG S 63 features unique AMG styling updates, including a Panamericana grille with a centrally mounted Mercedes logo, a sportier front bumper with large air intakes, a pronounced front chin, 21-inch AMG-specific wheels, and an AMG rear diffuser with quad exhaust pipes.
  • Inside, it boasts a new four-spoke AMG steering wheel, AMG-spec pedals and the latest MBUX software with AMG and hybrid-specific displays, including an exclusive “Super Sport” theme. The other notable features of this sportier luxury saloon are as follows: –
    • Active LED headlamps with Adaptive High Beam Assist and LED tail lamps
    • Carbon fibre finish on the dashboard

  • Additionally, there’s a Night exterior package option featuring dark chrome or gloss black accents and a carbon-fibre package that includes carbon fibre trims on the front bumper, wing mirrors, side sills, and rear diffuser.

Mercedes-AMG S 63 E-performance Edition 1

Mercedes is offering an exclusive S63 E-Performance Edition 1 variant, priced at Rs 3.80 crore. Limited to a few units, this Edition 1 costs an additional Rs 50 lakh and features:-

  • Manufaktur Alpine Grey exterior paint.
  • Unique matte black 21-inch forged AMG wheels.
  • Red calipers.
  • Standard AMG Night package.

Inside, it comes with the AMG Exclusive package, including:-

  • Black Nappa leather upholstery with contrast red stitching.
  • AMG crests embossed on the headrests.
  • Black and red carbon fiber trim on the dashboard.
