Maruti Suzuki is not only India's largest passenger carmaker, but it also exports a large number of units overseas. Recently, the company has announced that it has exported 205,450 vehicles in the calendar year (CY) 2021. This is the highest ever export in any calendar year by the Maruti Suzuki.
Maruti Suzuki began exporting its vehicles from India in 1986-87. Till date, it has exported over 21.85 lakh units.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki exports around 15 models to over 100 countries across Latin America, ASEAN, Africa, Middle East, and neighboring regions. The top five exports models in 2021 include Baleno, Dzire, Swift, S-Presso and Brezza. Exports stood at 22,280 units in the last month of 2021, against 9,938 units in December 2020.
On the other hand, the company recorded a domestic sales of 1,23,016 units in the Passenger Vehicle (PV) segment against 1,40,754 units in Dec 2020, and 3,015 units in the Commercial Vehicle (CV) segment as opposed to 5,725 units in December 2020. Sales to other OEMs were recorded at 4838 units.
