Maruti Suzuki Celerio Now Available With 6 Airbags, Priced Hiked

Maruti Suzuki has updated the safety quotient of the Celerio by offering six airbags as standard fitment across its variant lineup. Earlier, the compact hatchback was available with just two front airbags.

Aside from six airbags, features like ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder for all seats, seatbelt pre-tensioner & force limiter, and rear parking sensors are also part of the standard safety kit. Additionally, the range-topping variants also benefit from hill hold assist, impact-sensing auto door unlock, speed-sensitive auto door lock and rear defogger with rear washer & wiper.

Maruti Celerio: Prices Increased

The enhanced safety comes with a price hike of up to Rs 32,500, with the highest hike applicable to the top-spec ZXi+ AMT variant. The LXi MT, ZXi MT and ZXi+ MT variants now cost Rs 27,500 more, while the VXi AMT sees a Rs 21,000 increase. On the other hand, the VXi MT and VXi CNG MT variants have received a uniform price hike of Rs 16,000 each. However, the price of the ZXi AMT variant remains unchanged. With all these revisions, the Maruti Celerio now costs between Rs 5.64 lakh and Rs 7.37 lakh (ex-showroom).

What Powers The Maruti Celerio?

Powering the Maruti Celerio is a 1-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine (67PS and 89Nm), offered with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. Its manual version can also be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which makes a reduced power output of 57PS and a peak torque of 82Nm. It is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of up to 25.24 kmpl with manual, 24.97 kmpl with AMT and 34.43 km/kg with the CNG powertrain.
