Expanding its CNG lineup, Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the Baleno with a factory-fitted CNG kit in India. Currently, it is available in two variants: mid-spec Delta and second-from-the-top Zeta trim. Now according to a leaked type approval document, the premium hatch could also receive a new top-spec Alpha CNG variant. Expect it to be priced at Rs 10.66 lakh (ex-showroom).
Launching the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG in the Alpha variant will mean the buyers will not have to compromise on the features front. That said, the Alpha variant gets a host of premium features over the Zeta trim, such as a bigger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Arkamys-tuned sound system, 360-degree camera, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, LED fog lamps & DRLs, heads-up display (HUD), and much more. However, features like automatic LED projector headlamps, rear AC vents, push-button start, height adjustable driver’s seat, and 6 airbags are available from the Zeta variant onwards.

To jog your memory, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno uses the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, DualJet DualVVT petrol engine as its regular model that makes 77.49PS/98.5Nm in CNG mode, 12.5PS/14.5Nm less than its petrol-only mode. Also, it comes paired only with a 5-speed manual gearbox and claims a fuel efficiency of up to 30.61km/kg.
Since Toyota Glanza is a rebadged version of the Maruti Baleno, expect it too follow the same suit.
