Mahindra XUV700 Smart Flush Door Handles Teased

Mahindra & Mahindra has released a new video of the highly anticipated XUV700, teasing another segment-first feature – Smart Door Handles, which are basically the flush door handles found in luxury cars.

Unlike the regular flush door handles, the XUV700’s door handles are hinged at the front, and only the rear section pops out which the user can grab. These are likely to feature push-to-lock and push-to-unlock mechanisms.

Mahindra promises that the upcoming XUV700 will be a tech-loaded offering with several segment-first features. The brand has already revealed auto booster headlamps, the segment's largest panoramic sunroof, and personalised safety alert features. While the auto booster headlamps will turn on extra lights in darker conditions when the vehicle crosses 80kmph speed, the personalised safety alerts will allow the driver to customize the vehicle-speed alert notification sound.

Besides, the XUV700 is also expected to get level-1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that is likely to comprise active safety features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking system, blindspot detection, lane-keep assist, fatigue alert, cross-traffic alert, and more.

Rumors also suggest that the XUV700 will get the most powerful engines in its class. The SUV is likely to be powered by 197PS 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol and 182PS 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engines, offered with both manual and automatic transmission options.

Mahindra is likely to start production of the XUV700 by the end of this month. It is expected to hit the showrooms in August 2021, probably on Independence Day. The new-generation Thar was also revealed on the same day last year.

The XUV700 will replace the XUV500 in Mahindra's existing product lineup and will compete more prominently against the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
