Mahindra XUV400 Garners Over 10,000 Bookings; Waiting Period Ranging To 7 Months

  • Bookings for XUV400 opened on January 26.
  • Deliveries of the long-range EL variant will kick off in March 2023.
  • The waiting period has already climbed up to seven months.

Over 10,000 reservations have been placed for Mahindra’s XUV400 electric SUV in just four days since the commencement of its bookings on January 26. Based on current production capacity, the carmaker claims that these orders alone can take approximately up to 7 months to deliver.

One of the possible reasons for its strong start could be its more mainstream appeal and the brand’s trust among buyers. It is priced from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in two trims: EC and EL. It is worth noting that prices are introductory and will be valid for the first 5,000 bookings for each of the two variants. However, the SUV maker has not yet revealed the number of bookings received for each variant.

Mahindra is also auctioning off the one-of-one special edition of XUV400 online. Bidding began on January 26 and will end on January 31, and the winning bidder will be handed over the SUV on February 10 at the Mahindra EV Fashion Festival in Hyderabad. Mahindra will match the top bid from the auction to donate the proceeds to charitable causes.

For those who aren’t aware, the Mahindra XUV400 gets two battery pack options. The base-spec EC variant gets a 34.5kWh battery pack, while the top-spec EL trim comes with a slightly bigger 39.4kWh battery, claiming a range of 375km and 456km, respectively. Irrespective of the variant, the SUV gets a front-axle mounted electric motor rated at 150PS and 310Nm, which is good enough to complete the century sprint in just 8.3 seconds.

Deliveries of the Mahindra XUV400’s EL variant will commence in March this year, while deliveries for the EC trim will start around the festive season. The brand aims to deliver 20,000 units of the XUV400 by the end of 2023.
