Mahindra XUV400 EV Formula Edition Revealed

Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix, Formula E’s fourth round, returns to India this weekend. And what could be the better place for Mahindra to showcase the all-new Formula Edition of its latest EV, the XUV400, alongside its newest Gen3 Formula E race car.

The Mahindra XUV400 Formula Edition comes wrapped in a special livery that’s inspired by the racing spirit. It has been designed and developed in collaboration with Mahindra Formula E and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) studio in the UK.

Among the highlights of the Formula Edition livery are a combination of copper and red finishes as well as the ‘Mahindra’ branding on the hood and side panels. In addition, the ‘Mahindra Racing’ badging is engraved on the C-pillar and the alloy wheels, front bumper and side sill have copper accents.

Aside from the racing-inspired graphics, the Mahindra XUV400 Formula Edition remains the same.

Currently, the Mahindra EV is commanding a waiting period of up to seven months. The electrified SUV comes in two variants – EC and EL, offered with 34.5 kWh and 39.5 kWh battery pack options. While the former claims a range of 375km, the latter offers a range of 456km on a single charge.

Powering the XUV400 is a front-axle mounted PMS motor that dishes out 150PS of maximum power and 310Nm of peak torque. It is claimed to sprint from 0-100kmph in just 8.3 seconds, making it the fastest EV in its category. The EV also comes with fast charging capabilities. Using a 50kW DC fast charger, it can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in less than 50 minutes. However, a 7.2 kW AC charger will take approximately 6.3 to fully energise its battery pack.
