The Mahindra XEV 9S has finally been launched in India, with prices ranging from Rs 19.95 lakh to Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it inevitably goes up against its sibling, XEV 9e. However, despite sharing the same bloodline, the two differ in size, body style, seating configurations, features and even the battery options. - Mahindra XEV 9e is 52mm longer and 7mm wider than the XEV 9S. Its ground clearance is also marginally higher than the XEV 9S.
- Thanks to its traditional SUV stance, the XEV 9S is slightly taller than the XEV 9e.
- Since the XEV 9e is a 7-seater SUV, it can accommodate more people.
- The XEV 9e offers more practicality for luggage, thanks to its bigger 663 litres of boot against the 500 litres with the 3rd row folded in the XEV 9S.

- The XEV 9S comes with three battery pack options. While the 59kWh and 79kWh are common between the two, the XEV 9e can also be had with a 70 kWh unit.
- Both the EVs come with a single rear-axle-mounted motor that produces an identical torque output of 380Nm. However, the power outputs vary depending on the battery pack.
- Despite using similar battery packs, the XEV 9S with the 79kWh version clearly leads in driving range, claiming 679 km on a single charge. That’s 23km more than that of the XEV 9e’s 79 kWh version.
- Even the mid-variant XEV 9S (70kWh) delivers 600km, which is significantly more than the 9e.
- In the case of the 59 kWh version, the XEV 9e maxes out at 542km (21km more than the XEV 9S).
