Mahindra Thar #1 Sold For A Winning Bid Of Rs 1.11 Crore

Second Generation Mahindra Thar is the most highly awaited car of the year. It will be launched on 2nd October but the first unit of new Thar has been auctioned for Rs 1.11 crore. The winning bid came from Aakash Minda, a resident of New Delhi.

About the bidding

This online auction was started on 23rd September. It was supposed to end on 27th September but the last date was stretched to 29th September. As many as 5,400 individuals joined the auction, and bidding started at a sub price of Rs 25 lakh but interestingly the bids crossed the Rs 80 lakh mark on the first day only and ended for Rs 1.11 crore, an amount more than eleven times than its expected starting price. 

As reported earlier, Mahindra will add equal value to the winning bid amount and a total amount of Rs 2.22 crore will be given to either the Naandi Foundation, Swades Foundation, or PM CARES fund, as chosen by the winning bidder.

As per the process, the Aakash Minda will get the 4-seater LX variant of the Thar. However, he will be asked to finalize the powertrain, roof type, and color option as per his preference. The Thar #1 will get the customized badging as per the bidder's initials on the exterior as well as 'number 1' embossments on the leatherette seats and VIN plate on the dash. 
 

About All New Mahindra Thar

Mahindra has already unveiled the Next-gen Mahindra Thar. It will be offered in two variants: AX (Adventure) and LX (Lifestyle).  The AX is aimed at hardcore adventurer while the LX gets the more premium proposition as well as off-roading capabilities. 

New Thar will be available with two engine options: 2.2-liter diesel (130PS/300Nm) and a 2.0-liter mStallion turbo petrol engine (150PS/320Nm). Both the engines will be available with an option of 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Mahindra thar launch date

Booking of the new Thar will start from 2nd October, the day on which it will be launched and its prices will be announced. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 13 lakh and will rival the upcoming Force Gurkha and Maruti Jimny.
