Mahindra Scorpio Classic – What’s New?
Compared to its predecessor, the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic welcomes tons of visual changes as well as new features. For starters, it gets a revised front grille with Mahindra’s new twin-peak grille and a reworked bumper with a skid plate, new fog lamp housing, and DRLs. While the side profile of the car remains unchanged, it receives newly designed 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, along with dual-tone side cladding. Mahindra’s signature vertical LED tail-lamps with red reflectors round off the overall design.
Inside, a new black-&-beige color scheme with faux wooden inserts provides the updated Scorpio a refreshing appeal. The SUV also receives a new Android-based 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with mirror functionality. The other prominent features of the Scorpio Classic include auto climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, 2nd row AC vents, dual front airbags, day/night IRVM, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors, etc. Click here for variant-wise features details.
Speaking of the seating configuration, Mahindra has offered the Scorpio Classic in three seating configurations: two 7-seaters and one 9-seater. While one 7-seater gets two captain seats in the 2nd row, along with a bench in the last row, whereas the other features a bench in the 2nd row and jump seats for two in the third row. The 9-seater model, on the other hand, has a bench for 3 passengers in the 2nd row and jump seats for 4 passengers in the last row.
Powering the Mahindra Scorpio Classic is a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine from the mHawk series that makes 130PS and 300Nm, transmitting the power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra has also claimed to stiffen the suspension system to reduce the body roll.
In the Indian market, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic can be seen as a rugged body-on-frame alternative to the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector/Hector Plus, Tata Harrier/Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
