Mahindra Marazzo Could Get AMT Automatic Transmission

The year 2021 is going to be quite busy for Mahindra & Mahindra as several new products have been lined-up for launch, including the next-gen versions of Scorpio & XUV500. Recently, the homegrown maker has launched the petrol-AMT variants of XUV300. Now, an RTO registration document has revealed that Mahindra could also offer AMT gearbox option with the Marazzo MPV in the coming weeks.

As per the leaked document, all the variants of Mahindra Marazzo, including the base M2 will get the convenience of AMT (automated manual transmission). Expect it to carry a significant premium of around Rs 50,000 over the manual variants. For the people not in know, currently, the Mahindra Marazzo is available in three variants (M2, M4+, and M6+) and two seating configurations (7 and 8 seaters). It ranges between Rs 11.64 lakh and Rs 13.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The variant-wise pricing of Mahindra Marazzo is as follows: –

As of now, the Marazzo MPV comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It makes out 300Nm of peak torque and 121PS of max power in normal mode and 100PS in Eco mode. The AMT will also be paired with the same diesel engine, and it is likely to be a 6-speed unit similar to the XUV300. Apart from the AMT, Mahindra could introduce a new 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine from the mStallion series in the near future.

Currently, Mahindra Marazzo is not performing well in terms of sales. Therefore, the introduction of AMT will certainly increase Marazzo's reach to more customers. As per its price range, the Marazzo still has no direct rival in the Indian market. It is positioned between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Rs 7.69 – 10.47 lakh) and Toyota Innova Crysta (Rs 16.26 – 24.33 lakh).
