Kia EV6 Goes On Sale At Rs 59.95 Lakh

The Kia EV6, one of the most awaited electric vehicles, has finally been launched in India in a sole GT Line variant. Bookings for the electric crossover are already underway, while its deliveries are expected to commence from September 2022. Earlier, it was supposed to be offered in 100 units only. The brand, however, has already received 355 pre-launch reservations for the EV. So, the Korean carmaker has now decided to increase the planned deliveries by 3.5 times.

Kia EV6 – Design

Based on the Opposites United design philosophy, the Kia EV6 is a sporty-looking crossover with lots of trendy bits created for a unique appearance. At the front, it gets an Intelligent Front Lighting System that incorporates adaptive high-beam tech with DRLs and Kia’s new digital tiger face grille.

At the back, the EV finds one-of-its-kind LED tail lamps that stretch in a curved line and blend with the rear wheel arches on both sides. The other notable design highlights include a straight & sporty roofline, muscular wheel arches, and a wing-type roof spoiler that also adds to its aerodynamics.

In terms of size, it is 4695mm long, 1890mm wide, 1550mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2900mm, that’s 10mm longer than the Tesla Model Y. It comes with a boot capacity of 520 liters which can be expanded up to 1300 liters by folding down the rear row seats.

On the inside, the Kia EV6 gets an all-black interior with features like two 12.3-inch curved displays, vegan leather, a uniquely styled 2-spoke steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, an argument reality heads-up display, 14-speakers Meridian premium sound system, powered front seats, electronic parking brakes with auto-hold function, sunroof, multiple driving modes, and suede upholstery. It also gets Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging.

Passenger safety is handled by up to eight airbags (including center front airbags), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, stability control, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), stability management (VSM), and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) that further comprise features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, speed assistance, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and driver attention warning.

Kia EV6 – Powertrain, Battery Pack and Range

As mentioned above, the Kia India offers the EV6 in two drivetrain options: RWD and AWD. The former gets a single motor that generates a maximum power of 229PS along with a peak torque of 350Nm, while the latter gets one motor on each axle delivering a combined output of 325PS and 605Nm. This AWD setup allows the EV6 to propel from 0 to 100kmph in merely 5.2 seconds before attaining a top speed of 186kmph. Both the trims come mated to a 77.4kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack good for over 500 kilometers of claimed drive range.

Talking about the charging capabilities, the Kia EV6 supports ultra-fast DC charging of up to 350kW that can juice it up from 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes, whereas a 50kW DC charger will take around 1 hour 13 minutes for the same. On the other hand, the conventional 15kW home charger will clock around 36 hours for 0 to 100 percent.
