Kia Carens EV and Exter N Line Spied Testing; Launch Soon

Kia India is gearing up to introduce an electric derivative of the Carens MPV. Recently, we spotted its testing mule in Shimla. It is expected to be launched by mid-2025.

Kia Carens EV – What To Expect?

Though it was heavily camouflaged, we could spot the refreshed, aerodynamically optimised alloys and panoramic sunroof. The front facia of the MPV also seems heavily redesigned, incorporating an EV-specific grille, bumper and a new lighting system. However, the side profile remains largely the same as the existing ICE-powered Carens.

The interior of the Carens EV is yet to be seen; however, we anticipate it to be heavily redesigned compared to the existing model. Expect it to feature a refreshed dashboard with a layered pattern, a floating infotainment replacing the existing dashboard integrated unit and a fully digital instrument cluster. It might also borrow the new steering wheel from the recently launched Kia Syros.

In terms of features, expect additions like powered front seats with a memory function for the driver, ventilated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, front & rear parking sensors and a level-2 ADAS suite, with amenities like auto-emergency braking, dynamic cruise control and a collision avoidance system.

While the technical specifications of the Carens EV are still under wraps, expect it to share its powertrain with the Creta Electric. For reference, the Creta Electric comes with two battery pack choices: 42kWh and 51.4kWh, offering a claimed range of 390 km and 473 km, respectively. Irrespective of the battery pack, it gets a front-axle-mounted electric motor producing 135PS of max power with the smaller battery pack and 171PS with the bigger unit.

A Mysterious Hyundai N Line Model

Hyundai Exter N Line

Behind the Kia Carens EV, we also spotted a new Hyundai N Line model, featuring twin exhausts and red highlights on the rear side of the roof rails. Going by the design cues, it can either be the N Line version of the Exter or the Venue. If this turns out to be the Exter N Line, it could bring a fresh, spirited appeal to Hyundai’s entry-level SUV lineup. On the other hand, if it’s the Venue N Line, it might be an update with enhanced dynamics and sharper aesthetics. Expect Hyundai to introduce signature N Line touches inside as well, such as contrast stitching, metal pedals, and a sportier steering wheel.
