Kia Carens Bookings To Start From January 14

A few weeks ago, Korean carmaker Kia revealed its fourth offering for the Indian market called CARENS. Now, the company has announced that its pre-launch bookings will start from January 14, 2022. However, select Kia dealerships across the country have already commenced accepting its unofficial bookings for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

The above video also reveals key features of the Kia Carens three-row utility vehicle that majorly comprises a 10.25-inch dashboard integrated touchscreen infotainment system, 64-colour ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, cabin air purifier, etc. It will also get a digitized driver’s display, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech, cruise control, automatic climate control, roof-mounted rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, three drive modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), etc. Kia will offer the Carens with both 6- and 7-seat layouts, with captain seats in the former. 

On the safety front, six-airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start/descent assist, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), all-wheel disc brakes, etc. will be standard across all variants.

While its powertrain options are yet to be revealed, it is expected to come with the same 1.4-liter turbo-petrol (140PS/242Nm) and 1.5-liter diesel engines (115PS/250Nm) as the Kia Seltos, likely paired with the 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions. 

Expect Kia to price the Carens from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Once launched, it will fight it out with the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, and select variants of Toyota Innova Crysta.
