Jeep Compass 2WD Diesel Automatic Launched; Black Shark Edition Revealed

Jeep India has updated the variant lineup of the Compass SUV with new 2WD diesel automatic variants, with prices starting from Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV also receives a new grille and refreshed alloy wheels.

New Diesel Automatic Variants

  • For starters, the updated Jeep Compass now comes in five variants – Sport, Longitude, Longitude+ (new), Limited and Model S.
  • The diesel-powered Longitude 4×2 trim is now available with an optional 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission, priced at Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 16.2 kmpl. Earlier, the diesel-automatic combination on the Jeep Compass was restricted to its 4×4 variants.
  • For those who aren’t aware, the Compass diesel gets a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged unit that makes 170PS of max output and 350Nm of peak torque.

New Features

  • Aside from introducing the new diesel-automatic trim, the SUV also receives a new grille, which is restricted to the Limited and Model S variants.
  • It also gets a refreshed design for alloy wheels, offered across the lineup.
  • Speaking of the new Longitude+ variant, it gets a panoramic sunroof and a wireless smartphone charge over the features of the Longitude variant.

Sport Variant Is Now More Affordable

Jeep India has also dropped the price for the entry-level Sport variant by Rs 1.2 lakh. With this, it now costs Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Jeep Compass Black Shark Edition

In view of the upcoming festive season, Jeep India has also showcased the new Compass Black Shark Edition, which is based on the Limited variant.

It sports a differently styled front grille with black inserts, gloss-black finished Jeep logo, blacked-out Compass moniker on the doors, “Black Shark” emblems on the front fenders, and gloss-black side mirrors. It also gets blacked-out alloy wheels. Inside, it gets an all-black theme with sportier red accents and stitching.

In the premium mid-size SUV segment, the Jeep Compass goes up against the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
