India’s Car Sales Report – Feb 2025: Mahindra and Skoda Shine, Hyundai and Tata See Decline

The Indian automotive market witnessed a mixed bag of results in February 2025, with some car brands showing significant growth while others faced a decline in sales. Let’s take a look at the sales figures of the top 10 OEMs for February 2025: –

Car sales February 2025
  • Maruti Suzuki retained its position as the market leader, selling 1,60,791 units, marking a 0.3% year-on-year (YoY) growth. However, its month-on-month (MoM) sales fell by 7.4% compared to January 2025. The brand’s market share also dipped from 43.1% in Feb 2024 to 42.2% this year.
  • Mahindra posted an 18.9% YoY growth, selling 50,420 units in February 2025 compared to 42,401 units in February 2024. Despite a slight 0.5% MoM decline, Mahindra’s market share increased from 11.4% to 13.2%, reflecting its growing dominance in the SUV segment.
  • Hyundai sold 47,727 units, down 4.9% YoY and 11.6% MoM, leading to a market share drop from 13.5% to 12.5%.
  • Tata Motors registered a 9.4% YoY decline, with 46,437 units sold compared to 51,270 in February 2024.
  • Toyota saw a 13.4% YoY growth, with sales rising from 23,300 to 26,414 units.
  • Kia achieved a 23.9% YoY growth, maintaining stable MoM figures.
  • Honda struggled with a 21.4% YoY drop, selling only 5,616 units in February 2025.
  • Skoda emerged as the biggest gainer, with a staggering 147.7% YoY growth, selling 5,583 units compared to 2,254 in February 2024. Its MoM sales also increased by 35.1%, boosting its market share.
  • MG Motor India witnessed an 11.7% YoY decline, selling 4,002 units, along with a 10.2% MoM drop.
  • Volkswagen grew by 3.0% YoY, selling 3,110 units.
