India-bound Kia EV6 Specifications Revealed; Bookings To Open Soon

  • Will come to India as a CBU unit.

Kia India will soon foray into the EV segment with its crossover EV6. Spied testing on the road multiple times, it is now confirmed that Kia will commence booking for the EV6 from May 26th, and a recently leaked brochure of the car gives us the exact specifications being offered. Let’s see what all you will get indulged in with the Kia EV6!

Kia EV6 Specifications

The EV6 will come with a sole 77.4 kWh battery pack which claims a WLTP range of 500 km. Paired with this battery pack is either a single motor RWD which puts out 229PS of power and 350Nm of torque or a dual motor AWD system which churns out 325PS and 650Nm. Already on sale in the global market, Kia claims that the AWD version can achieve a 0-100kmph in staggering under 5.2 sec, while the RWD achieves that in around 7.3 sec.

Visuals and Cosmetics

The EV6’s design is the perfect duality between subtle yet imposing. On the outside, the EV6 rests on massive 19-inch wheels. Towards the front boasts Kia’s digital tiger-nose grille with dual LED headlamps having adaptive beam throw, and rear fog lamps, connected LED tail lamps running across the entire boot with sequential turn indicators towards the back. The cars also get the option of Vegan leather upholstery and a wrapped steering wheel.

The Kia EV6 will come equipped with a host of premium features such as a dual 12.3-inch cockpit-style drivers display, cooled, heated and massage front seats with 10-way power adjust along with memory function for the driver side, 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, multiple drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport), wireless smartphone charger, electric sunroof, electronic parking brake with auto hold, connected car technology as standard.

With the higher-end AWD model, the car will also get an additional 14-speaker Meridian sound system, intelligent powered tailgate, and AR heads-up display.

Safety

The EV6, just like everything, is fit to the teeth in terms of safety with features like 8-airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Management, 4-wheel disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, and level-2 ADAS with assisted features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring, detection, and collision avoidance.

Charging Capability

The 77.4 kWh battery does possess fast charging capability, with a 50 kW DC fast charger giving a 10% – 80% in around 73 minutes. It also comes with hypercharge, and if you’re lucky enough to find a 350 kW DC fast charger, it will top up your battery from 10% to 80% in merely 18 minutes.

The vehicle is also said to possess vehicle-to-load capabilities, which means it can deliver power to other sources to run them. So if needed, it can be used as a glorious battery bank to supply power to your house in case of a power outage (not joking!).

Color Options

The EV6 will be offered in 5 shades: Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and Yacht Blue.

Expected Price

Since the EV6 will be a CBU unit with only 100 units being offered initially, a conservative amount of Rs 65 – 70 lakh (ex-showroom) can be a good starting point considering all the offerings.
