Hyundai i20 N-Line Bookings Open Unofficially, Debut On August 24

Hyundai Motors is all set to unveil the first N-line model for India, the i20 N-Line on August 24, 2021. While there is still a week left in its official arrival, select Hyundai dealerships across the country have already started accepting its bookings for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

As per leaked information, the Hyundai i20 N-line will be offered in two variants: N6 and N8. It will get tons of cosmetical changes in order to differentiate it from the standard model. For starters, it will get tweaked front & rear bumpers with black trim on the lower portion, a revised front grille with a ‘chequered flag’ pattern, side skirts, a newly designed larger alloy wheel design (possibly of 17-inches), and chrome twin-exhaust muffler setup.

Changes on the inside of the cabin could be minimal in the form of an all-black cabin theme with red color accents for sporty appeal and N Line badging all over. Features on offer will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, BlueLink connected car tech, ambient lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, metal finished pedals, cruise control, up to 6-airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, and more.

Compared to the global-spec i20 N performance-oriented model, the India-bound i20 N-line is unlikely to get any hardcore mechanical modifications. It will be powered by the same 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine as the standard i20, paired with either a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox. However, the engine tuning is likely to be slightly altered to suit its sportier character. Also, the brand could offer a modified suspension setup for an enhanced driving experience and a slightly different exhaust note for added fun.

Expect the i20 N Line to demand a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the standard model's top-spec turbocharged Asta (O) model that retails at Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will go up against the Volkswagen Polo GT in the Indian market.
