Hyundai Creta Waiting Period Stretches Over To 10 Months In Select Cities

Planning to buy India’s top-selling Hyundai Creta SUV this festive season? Well, depending on your location and the variant chosen, your wait for getting its delivery could be up to 10 months. In fact, a recently leaked email communication between a Hyundai dealership and a customer reveals that the waiting period for the Creta SX (O) Diesel-Automatic is now up to 7-8 months due to the global semiconductor chips shortage.

As per reports, the waiting period for Hyundai Creta ranges from 2 to 10 months (depending on the variant) across all major cities. Currently, it is facing the highest waiting period among all the cars of its segment. The average waiting time is at least 4-5 months, with the maximum going up to 10 months in Bangalore. On the other hand, Kolkata has the least waiting period of up to 2.5 months. In the major metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, you have to wait for at least 4 months. Speaking of the variants, the SX and SX (O) trims of the Creta are most in-demand, while its diesel models aggregate over 60% of its total sales.

Creta's sibling rival, the Kia Seltos currently has a relatively lesser waiting period (2-6 months), while the Nissan Kicks and Maruti S-Cross are readily available. 

Currently, the Hyundai Creta ranges from Rs 10.16 lakh to Rs 17.87 (ex-showroom Delhi). Its equipment list includes LED headlamps and tail lamps, a 10.25-inch touchscreen system with BlueLink connected car tech, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Bose sound system with a subwoofer, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, paddle shifters, built-in air purifier, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, panoramic sunroof, electronic paring brakes with auto-hold, etc. Safety features include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold control, parking sensors with a reversing camera.

Under the hood, Hyundai has been provided the 5-seater Creta SUV with three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115PS/144Nm) with 6-speed manual/CVT, a 1.5-litre diesel (115PS/250Nm) with a 6-speed manual/AT, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol (140PS/242Nm with a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic) only.
