Hyundai Creta has been the undisputed champion of the compact SUV space of Indian market. Right since its launch in 2015, the other manufacturers in India have toiled hard to enter the segment and compete with Creta, but Creta has just been way too better.
Be it Suzuki's S-Cross, Nissan's Terrano, Renault's Duster, none could do well, and they have not even been close in terms of sales, the popularity of Creta can be estimated by the fact that it did not just outnumber the car in its segment, it also forced many buyers to change their decisions of buying a car from higher segments.
To quote an example, one can easily say that Creta's elder sibling, Tuscon fared poorly and the failure can be attributed to Creta's success, buyer's thought of Creta as a more value for money package, both the car offered almost the same and with Creta sporting, all the features and utilities that mattered at a better price, the stylish Hyundai SUV completely managed to outdo Tucson.
Diesel
The diesel engines come with the option of mated automatic gear boxes in SX and SX (O) variants, at a premium of almost Rs 1.5 Lakhs and Rs 1.4 Lakhs respectively over the manual diesel engine options.
If you are planning to go for the automatic, both of them are great buys with not a number of differences in between making both of them equally attractive buys unless the price gap of Rs. 1.2 Lakhs between these trims do not matter a lot.
Petrol
The SX automatic petrol offers the same features as the manual. However, it is also offered with a turbocharged 1.4L engine that churns out a power of 138 HP, offered at a premium of Rs. 1.2 Lakhs over SX Automatic trim that is priced at Rs. 14.94 Lakhs.
There are certain unique feature additions offered on the SX turbo variant including remote climate control, remote engine start stop which could prove to be the deal breaker in case you have made up your mind for buying a good performance, feature loaded SUV.
Final Verdict
If you are willing to spend a substantial part of your savings, and have absolutely decided to grab eyeballs when you take out your car on the road, you can definitely go for the top trim. It will be a great addition and will definitely spice up your porch.
The SX and SX(O) get extra safety features like hill assist, panoramic sunroof and stability control, but if you are someone who wants a car majorly for normal city driving and will not take the car out on the spin on rough terrains very often, the extra safety features will not necessarily justify the premium.
The highlight feature, the panoramic sunroof looks super cool but won't be very useful if you live in the northern part of the country, you will rarely get the climate perfectly suitable for getting the fresh breeze of air as the strong warm air that blows for almost the whole year would make life difficult.
However, if you are tight on budget and looking for a variant that would offer you a perfect balance between price and features we would recommend the S variant especially for petrol engines, it gets all the luxurious utilities and share remarkably similar looking exteriors with the top trim except for the highlighted panoramic sunroof.
While opting for the automatic, the SX trim seems the rational choice, packing all the bells and whistles for both diesel and petrol.

3. SX (both petrol and diesel)
Available at a premium of around Rs 1.8 Lakhs for both petrol and diesel, SX do come with a host of brilliant additions over S but the significantly higher price tag might compel the buyers to give a strong thought of whether to opt for this trim.
On the exterior, this trim derives the most highlighted and talked about feature, the panoramic sunroof, the first in its segment to offer a panoramic sunroof, apart from it the exterior now gets 17 inch alloy wheels (the EX and S variant come with 16 inch alloy wheel), it also get LED projectors, which makes the front look exactly similar to the top trim.
On the interior features front, the SX variant gets some powerful additions over S trim, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system (10.24 as compared to 8 inch unit on EX and S variant), wireless phone charging and electric folding rear view mirror.
The majority of additions are those related to safety including all important updates like Vehicle stability control system, Hill assist and isofix child seats mount.
The addition of extra safety features and the poster boy SX(O) stand-out highlight, the panoramic sunroof does make the SX variant a tempting buy but the premium that it demands over the S variant, will surely make the buyer relist all that they want from their car, I mean it really won't make a lot of sense going for this trim even if it will primarily be used for normal city and highway driving.
4. SX(O) (diesel only)
The poster boy, and the perfect package that comes at a seriously high price, it is offered at a premium of almost Rs. 1.3 Lakhs over the SX variant, it gets the stylish dual tone diamond cut alloys which makes its exterior look perfect.
As far as features are concerned the car comes equipped with next gen utilities like a remote Engine start/stop control, a remarkably safe cabin with six airbags being the key highlights over SX variant.
If you have bucks and have made up your mind to go for the poster boy, we simply won't ask you to step back, it is a brilliant car and even at Rs 15.79 Lakhs, it will be a great buy, and you won't regret spending hefty premiums over lower models, because it for sure does pack in the punch.

2. S (both petrol and diesel)
To drive this variant home you need to pay the premium of almost Rs. 1.73 Lakhs over the base trim for petrol and 2.78 Lakhs over base trim for diesel, which definitely is a significant amount of money, especially for diesel trim the premium is good enough to buy a premium 400cc bike.
Over the base trim, S offers welcome luxury additions like Automatic climate control, Cruise control, Engine start stop button, automatic headlamps, a rear parking assistance camera and a rear window wiper.
Additions of chrome grille on the front along with projector headlamps, LED DRLs and a big Hyundai badging makes the front look remarkably similar to the top variant, the S variant also gets the silver-coloured roof rails, although it misses out on alloys, the styled steel wheels look good and add to the overall appeal of the side profile.
This trim does promise a lot and if you are opting for the petrol, it seems a strong contender for being the most value for money variant at least by taking a look at the price sheets, but as we have still not discussed the higher SX and SX(O) variants, we would like to put our excitation levels on hold for a while.

1. EX (both petrol and diesel)
The base variant is offered at the introductory price and it consists of all the basic features, the company has included some luxury features like Smart access card entry, Navigation System, Rear AC vents, voice control, touchscreen infotainment system with the support of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Inclusion of these features ensure that the buyers opting for the base variant get enough goodies and the car is still a good package, even on the exterior, the base trim retains almost all the necessary design elements like three-way split Tail lamp, plastic cladding all around, silver faux plates but misses out on design elements like chrome grille at the front, alloy wheels and roof rails.
It surprisingly is a good value for money buy, but we won't suggest going for it, whenever someone buys a car they would like it to resemble the most with the advertised trim, which definitely is the top trim, so if you have made up your mind for buying Creta, you would surely fancy more than the basic luxury which even the lower segment cars offer.

Variants on offer (manual)
Variants on offer (automatic)
