Back in August 2021, Honda announced their plans to introduce a fresh mid-size SUV (codename 3US) in India. As per recent reports, it is slated to be unveiled on June 6, 2023. While it’s not official, the upcoming Creta-rivaling SUV is likely to be named ‘Honda Elevate’ and could go on sale in the second half of 2023.
Unofficial bookings for this upcoming Honda SUV have also begun at select dealerships for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
Honda 3US – What Do We Know About The Upcoming SUV?
- According to reports, the upcoming SUV from Honda will have a length ranging from 4.2-4.3 meters and a wheelbase that competes with other vehicles in its segment, providing ample interior space. Furthermore, it is said to share the platform and engine options with the 5th-generation City sedan.
- Expect it to borrow some styling cues from the new-generation Honda WR-V available for sale in Indonesia.
- Based on the spy shots, Honda’s new SUV will possess upright proportions and rugged SUV styling. It will have chunky body cladding all around and beefy wheel arches. However, there will be plenty of chrome touches for added bling.

- As mentioned above, the 3US is likely to be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the City sedan at launch, with the self-charging strong hybrid mill set to arrive later.
- The available gearbox options are likely to mirror those already provided on the City, consisting of a 6-speed manual and a CVT for the non-hybrid engine and an e-CVT for the hybrid motor.
- No diesel engine will be on offer.
- As for features, the SUV is expected to be loaded with advanced features, like wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, up to six airbags, and Honda Sensing Suite which is essentially Honda’s jargon for the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
- Its ADAS suite should include features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, high beam assist,t lane keep assist, cross-traffic alert, etc.
- Reports suggest that Honda intends to manufacture up to 8,000 units of this SUV per month in India, with a significant portion earmarked for export.
- Expect Honda to price it from around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Once launched, the new Honda SUV will go up against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
