Honda Elevate Sport Edition Teased; Launch Soon

Honda Cars India has teased a new special edition of the Elevate mid-size SUV. Given the details in the teased image and caption, we expect it to be named “Elevate Sport Edition” or “Elevate Explorer Edition”. It is likely to entail only a few cosmetic updates.

What Could It Be About?

The teaser reveals a host of eye-catching cosmetic enhancements, including a blacked-out front grille with Alpha Bold vertical slats, new blacked-out alloys, along with a new dual-tone copper colour scheme with black roof & ORVMs, red strips on the hood. Adding to its sporty red appeal are red highlights on the grille, fog lamp surrounds and alloy wheels.

While its interior is yet to be seen, we expect it to boast an all-black cabin theme, with contrasting red accents on the dash, steering wheel, gear knob and door pads. It is also expected to feature metal pedals and red pin strips on the leatherette seat upholstery.

No Mechanical Changes Anticipated

The upcoming Special Edition of the Honda Elevate is unlikely to undergo any mechanical changes. It will be equipped with the ongoing 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine (121PS/145Nm), paired with manual and CVT gearboxes.

Features and Safety

The upcoming special edition of the Elevate will likely retain the ongoing feature set of the regular model, comprising a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, a single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, auto AC with rear AC vents, LaneWatch cameras, six airbags, and a Level-2 ADAS suite.

Author’s Take

While the special edition is certainly a welcome move, bringing a touch of freshness to the Honda Elevate SUV, it still feels somewhat underwhelming from a broader market perspective. Many enthusiasts and potential buyers were expecting a hybrid or electric iteration, especially since Honda had earlier promised to introduce an electrified version of the Elevate by 2026.

That said, the brand has announced plans to launch 10 new cars in India by 2030, with the Honda 0 Alpha concept-based SUV set to become its first born-electric model. However, for now, Indian buyers will have to wait longer for Honda’s entry into the mainstream EV space.
