After unveiling the CB500 a few months ago, Honda has now finally announced its prices, which start from Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in three variants: Alloy, Spoke and Spoke with Stripes.

Honda CB500 Design and Colour Options
The new Honda CB500 looks similar to the CB350, featuring a neo-retro appearance with bits like a round LED headlight, round tail light and side indicators, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, minimal side panels, a chrome-finished muffler, and a long, single-piece seat with ribbed pattern. It also features a good amount of chrome for a premium appearance.
Honda offers the CB500 in five colour options, namely Rebel Red Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black, Pearl Deep Ground Grey, Mat Steel Silver Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black (with stripes).

Underpinnings
Based on the steel tube frame, the CB500 gets a conventional telescopic fork upfront and twin rear shock absorbers. Disc brakes at both ends take care of the anchoring duties, assisted by a dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS) for added safety. It rides on a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup.

Honda has equipped all variants of the CB500 with amenities such as LED lights all around, an analogue-digital instrument console with Honda RoadSync connectivity, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), dual-channel ABS, and a slipper clutch.
Honda CB500 Engine and Performance
At the heart of the CB500 is an all-new 501cc, single-cylinder, air-&-oil cooled engine that produces 28HP of max power and 43.3Nm of peak torque. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, this engine is claimed to be designed for easy-going highway runs. It is Honda’s largest air-cooled single-cylinder motorcycle in our market, and it is expected to deliver robust low-end torque for quick acceleration in city traffic.
Competition Check
In the mid-capacity market, the CB500 is positioned as an affordable alternative to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (Rs 3.88-4.22 lakh) and the BSA Gold Star 650 (Rs 3.22-3.60 lakh).
