Honda Amaze: 8 Reasons To Buy

In the last few years, the Indian market has registered a huge demand for utility vehicles and most of the mid-range buyers are now turning to this segment. And the biggest impact of this transition can be seen mainly on sedan cars, whose demand has been declining gradually for the last few years. But even now Honda Cars India is the only budget brand in the country, which has been maintaining its dominance in the subcontinent since 1995 with its sedan cars. These mainly include City, Civic, and Accord. In 2013, Honda added another name to this list- 'Amaze' which was initially based on the Brio hatchback's platform. Later in 2018, Honda had given it a generation update and prefaced it as a more mature product than before. Here's we have listed the top eight reasons that why is it still a good choice for your family needs: –

1. Premium design

Honda Amaze is the most premium looking car in the sub-compact sedan segment. Its neat proportions make it look elegant & a car from a segment above. It is designed in a manner that will be liked by every aged person. Of course, there are no funky elements like the Hyundai Aura, but it works as an advantage for Amazon because the simpler the car looks, the longer it will attract your eyes.

2. Good Interior Space & Comfort

Honda's experience of making sedan cars is clearly visible in the Amaze. With its class-leading space, it leaves no stone unturned to woo you. Its seats are comfortable and offer enough room even for tall passengers. It can comfortably accommodate three adults of average built at the rear. Even though it gets a fixed headrest in the rear, they provide good support to the neck. Further to increase your overall experience, Honda has given a dual-tone finish inside the cabin, which gives it an airy and premium touch.

The Amaze misses out front armrest and rear AC vent. But its air conditioning unit is quite powerful for its size, and you won't feel its absence much, and as far as the front armrest is concerned, you can get it as an aftermarket accessory. However, this festive season Honda has introduced a special edition of Amaze in which you will get a factory-fitted front armrest along with many other exclusive features.

Being a family car, the Amaze will really leave you amazed with its segment's best 420-liter of luggage space. Therefore, you won't face any difficulty in carrying one week's belongings of your family.

3. Decent set of features

The Honda Amaze is not the most loaded car of the segment, but it offers nearly all the comfort features that one needs in its day-to-day routine. Whether it is the auto climate control, super-responsive touchscreen infotainment system, or cruise control, you name it Amaze own it. Its other key features include inbuilt navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, height-adjustable driver's seat, rear armrest with cup holders, bottle holders on all doors, electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs, day/night IRVM, all-four power windows with driver-side one-touch function, steering mounted control, voice recognition, dead pedal, passive keyless entry with push-button engine start-stop, sharkfin antenna, rear defoggers, alloy wheels, etc. However, if Honda had also given features like automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, front armrest, dedicated rear AC vents, and adjustable headrest in the rear row, then it would have seemed like a perfect product.

4. Class-leading safety

Despite having some minor built quality issues like thin sheet metal & minor panel gaps, the Honda Amaze offers you class-leading safety by offering a host of safety equipment as standard. This primarily includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors, front adjustable headrests with whiplash protection, speed alert system, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages, etc. In fact, it even had scored 4-star for adult occupant protection in Global NCAP's crash test, making it the safest cars in its segment.

5. Exclusivity of the Diesel-CVT

Besides the Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Ford Aspire are the only options in the sub-4m sedan segment, which offers a diesel engine. But only the Aura & Amaze has an automatic option on this list, and that said, where the Aura gets a choice of a 5-speed AMT, the Amaze gets a better, smoother, and efficient CVT option.

6. Powerful engines

Honda Amaze comes with two engine options: 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-liter diesel. Both motors can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic. At 90PS and 110Nm of output, the Amaze petrol is more powerful & torquiest than the segment leader Maruti Dzire (83PS/113Nm), Tata Tigor (85PS/114Nm), and Hyundai Aura's 1.2L naturally aspirated engine (83PS/114Nm). On the other hand, its diesel engine is the same unit that Honda also offers with City sedan. It produces the segment's best power out of 100PS and 200Nm of peak torque. However, the diesel CVT delivers slightly less power and torque (80PS/160Nm).

7. Extra Ordinary Fuel Efficiency

The Amaze's 1.2-litre petrol engine offers an ARAI fuel efficiency of 18.6kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.5-liter diesel engine returns 25kmpl (ARAI claimed). But if you'll be gentle on the throttle, it will surely return even more mileage than the claimed values. In our real-world fuel efficiency test, it surpassed the claimed figure by over 4kmpl when driven on the highway.

8. Invincible Reliability

Honda cars are known for their reliability and the Amaze also carries forward this benefaction and the brand has an extensive service network across the country.
