Head Designer Pratap Bose Quits Tata Motors, Martin Ulharik Will Take Over

Pratap Bose, Vice-President, Global Design of Tata Motors has resigned for better opportunities. Now, Martin Uhlarik, Head of Design at Tata Motors European Technical Centre in the UK, has been appointed as the new Global Design Head of the company.

In a statement, Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors, said-

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Uhlarik as the new Global Design Head of Tata Motors. Martin is an experienced automobile designer with deep domain knowledge of design, keen understanding of international trends, and extensive operational experience with leading automobile companies in several geographies. His rich experience and expertise will inspire our teams to further enhance our vehicle design philosophy and language. I take this opportunity to also thank Pratap for his services and wish him the best for the future.

Why is this a big news?

The news is big because he has a hugely influential role in Tata Motors. Having served for almost 15 years, Pratap has been involved in remodeling Tata Motors into a brand that most people love today. We cannot deny the fact that the recent success of Tata Motors can be attributed to the IMPACTful designs of its cars and that came with the new design language that was first seen on the Tata Tiago, which helped in breaking the viewpoint that the customers had of the brand. Later, the Nexon SUV and Altroz premium hatchback came as a big surprise for the new car buyers and had won several awards for their delightful stylings. His contribution to Tata Motors was so immense that he was even nominated for the '2021 World Car Person of The Year Award'.
