Back in May 2022, Carlos Tavares, the CEO of Stellantis automotive, announced its plan to launch its first EV in India by early 2023 under the flag of Citroen. And now, the electric version of Citroen C3 cross-hatch has spied testing on our soil. Rumors are suggesting that it will break cover by December 2022, while its launch will take place in the first quarter of 2023. Once launched, it will go up against the Tata Tiago EV, which is slated to be launched on September 28.
The electrified Citroen C3 will be based on the same modular CMP platform as its ICE version. While its technical details are scarce at the moment, we expect it to come in a front-wheel drive configuration only. It should offer a driving range of over 300 kilometers.
Going by the spied image, the design of the Citroen C3 electric will be largely similar to its ICE version. However, it could get some minor visual changes in the form of an EV-specific grille, differently designed alloy wheels, and bumpers. We also hope the all-electric C3 to get all those basic features, which are missing in its petrol versions, such as a rear washer & wiper, rear defogger, day/night IRVM, electronically controlled ORVMs, and cruise control.

The Stellantis automotive also strives to manufacture batteries and cells in India for the rest of the world. The brand also believes that EV penetration in India will gradually increase to 25-30% by 2030.
In the other news, the Citroen is also developing an MPV and a crossover utility vehicle for the Indian market.
