The all-new Honda City 2020 has been spied in India multiple times in the last few months and we expect its launch, once the lockdown imposed, ends. On 1 April, the current generation Honda city diesel was discontinued as it could not meet the BS6 norms.
2020 Honda City: Expected Features
We presume the new generation to host the following features:-
- It will be powered by a 1.5-liter diesel and petrol engines as the current generation.
- It will enjoy LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, leather seats, electrically powered sunroof, 16-inch diamond-cut alloys, cruise control, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay smartphone connectivity support, connected car technology, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, height-adjustable driver seat, steering mounted controls. Amazon Alexa will also be present in the new city sedan. (Will it start the car on voice command from Alexa Echo device?)
- On the safety front, it is likely to be equipped with traction control, TPMS, 6 airbags, ESP, reverse parking camera, hill start assist, and the famous Honda lane watch camera as seen earlier on the latest generation civic.
- The new city will be wider and bigger in dimensions compared to the current one which promises a roomier and a comfortable cabin.
The current city goes on sale starting at Rs. 9.81 lakh (ex-showroom) and we expect the new generation to start a little over Rs. 10 lakh. It will go head to head with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris.
The Honda city 2020 was launched in Thailand in November 2020 and it even scored 5 stars in ASEAN NCAP test in March 2020. The Sedan segment is struggling globally and rubbing salt into the wound. But it would be interesting to see what Honda achieves with this next-gen sedan as the brand city is well established in India.
