After multiple spy shots and speculations, the French carmaker Citroen has finally unveiled its second offering for the Indian market, the C3 sub-4-meter crossover. Unlike the C5 Aircross premium mid-sized SUV, the Citroen C3 will be a highly localised product that has been specially developed for emerging markets like India. It is likely to be launched in early 2022.
Citroen C3- Design
The Citroen C3 takes its design inspiration from its elder sibling C5 Aircorss. It features a floating roofline and upright stance, along with a sharper bonnet line. Upfront, it gets the Citroen's traditional chrome line grille that splits the daytime running lights and headlamps in a V shape.
It also features a dual-tone bumper with a faux silver color skid plate and a splash of contrast color on the fog lamp housing, side air bumps, roof as well as the ORVMs. There's also heavy black cladding all around that further strengthens its sporty appearance. At the back, the C3 features an upright tail, a chunky dual-tone bumper, and large wraparound tail lamps.
Citroen has stated that it will also provide the new C3 with a range of accessories and various customisation options that will allow the user to choose different roof colours and customized painted panels on the dashboard.
Citroen C3 – Interior & Features
The interior design of the Citroen C3 looks quite funky thanks to the uniquely designed air-con vents and color-coded panel (customisable) running the width of the dashboard. Taking the central stage is a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration features. There's also a mobile clamp beside the screen.
The other notable bits of the C3's cabin include a chunky three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, manual AC, and integrated headrests for the front & rear bench seats. Also, it is unlikely to get an electric sunroof.
Citroen C3 – Dimensions and Storage Spaces
The Citroen C3 is based on the CMP modular platform that will also underpin the Jeep's upcoming sub-4m offering. Dimension-wise, it is 3,980mm long with a wheelbase of 2,540mm. It has a ground clearance of 180mm, which is sufficient enough to take road obstacles.
Talking about the storage spaces, it will offer 315-liters of boot space along with multiple storage compartments across the cabin.
Citroen C3 – Powertrain
While its mechanical details are still under the wraps, it is likely to get a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with manual and automatic transmission options.
Citroen C3 – Price
Prices of the Citroen C3 will be announced during its launch time. However, going by the unveiled videos and images, it seems like the brand will price it very aggressively. It could be priced between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
